Child's Play International Ltd. - putting disabled children "in the picture"!

Child's Play [International] Ltd has "championed" the inclusion of disabled children in early years' picture books over a number of years.

The Child's Play Team have been keen to ensure a majority of their publications include incidental images of disabled children. Some of their more recent publications include The Ding Dong Bag,which features a boy with an arm splint and The Little Explorers Series - of which one of the books features a girl with a hearing impairment. There are also further books in production which feature incidental images.

Other books by Child's Play focus on "Baby Signing" and encourage very young children to learn basic sign language for everyday activities thus creating a more inclusive world for those with a hearing impairment.

Through their commitment to the inclusion of incidental images of disabled children the Child's Play Team have become one of the UK's leading publishers to support inclusive practices for very young children. They have encouraged writers and illustrators to consider incorporating disabled children in their books and have successfully achieved this.

The Child's play Team have literally put "disabled children in the picture"!
