At the In The Picture Picture this! evening reception in London on 15 April 2008, Celine Matthews collected an In The Picture Champions Award from Dame Jacqueline Wilson and Cherie Booth QC on behalf of her family - you can read below how the Matthews family have "championed" the project.

The Matthews family - putting disabled children "in the picture"!
The Matthews family [mum, dad and three sisters] have supported and promoted the In The Picture project since it first began.
They took part in a mini survey in 2003 which demonstrated the need for more disabled children to be included in children's books.
They have played a major part in promoting the project on the TV, radio, newspapers and magazines.
Celine, who you can see represented in a lot of our leaflets and around the website, allowed us to write and use a case study about her, her love of books and her joy when she finds herself represented in them!
The whole family has promoted the project locally in their everyday lives to family and friends, local schools and nurseries - indeed everywhere that Celine and her sisters visit!
Celine was also the inspiration for the Scope leaflet "Celine's New Splints" which tells the story of a child being fitted for leg splints for the first time. The leaflet is a first in sharing information with disabled children - a booklet aimed directly at them and in a story book format to help them understand their condition and experiences. The leaflet has been widely welcomed by children who wear leg splints and the professionals working with them.
The Matthews family have really helped us and other people to put disabled children "in the picture"!
