Julie Revels - putting disabled children "in the picture"!

Julie is an Early Years Education and Special Educational Needs Consultant and attended an In The Picture training session in May 2007. Since then she has been keen to promote the project at every opportunity.

Julie initiated and facilitates a national support group for Area SENCOs at the Institute for Education [SENJIT - Special Educational Needs Joint Initiative for Training] and through her role with this group has promoted the work of the In The Picture project.

She invited the team to give a presentation about the project to the SENJIT group in October 2007 - from this session other sessions have been requested to roll out information about the project's aims and objectives across schools in the south east of England.

Julie then invited the team to deliver a keynote presentation and workshop at an early years' conference in Rutland. Again interest in the project and its aims was high - further requests for workshops have been made as a result.

Julie also plans to incorporate elements of In The Picture research into a foundation degree module currently being developed in conjunction with the Institute of Education; "Including Children with Learning Difficulties and Disabilities in the Early Years". This will spread the word further as the module can be delivered to Early Years' SENCOs in Local Authorities around the country.

The work Julie has done, and continues to do, to promote In The Picture to education professionals has helped us spread the word to many people interested in achieving an inclusive education for all children.

She truly is a champion of In The Picture!
