Zara Todd - putting disabled children "in the picture"!
Zara has been a key supporter and promoter of In The Picture since the project began. She has a passion for promoting the inclusion of disabled children in early years' story books based on her life experience as a disabled person.
She ran workshops at our " Story So Far .." conference in October 2006 with Alex Strick. The workshops looked at the work of the Roald Dahl Foundation Quentin Blake Award Project called "Making Exclusion a Thing of the Past"; sharing with delegates the views of young children about the representation of disability in children's books.

Zara also provides regular input to children's books via Alex Strick and on occasions directly to publishers. She is a member of a virtual consultancy group which comments on book ideas, manuscripts and illustrations in relation to disability.
The impact of the work Zara has done to promote In The Picture is difficult to measure, however she uses every possible opportunity to promote the project's aims and objectives and that can only have a positive impact on the people she works with and meets.
Her role has inspired other young people to write and help challenge negative attitudes and approaches in books thus ensuring disabled children are literally being put "in the picture"!
