What's The Story?

This image is from an illustrated story in progress - "The Piece of Paper". Luke has autism. Flicking paper close to his eyes is part of a sequence of rituals he has created for himself. It could be that by concentrating on one small moving thing he can block out the overwhelming confusion [to him] of the world at large. The coloured bands around him refer to the previous illustration [in the book] in which he reaches into a tray of coloured paper scraps.

Of course as an image in itself the boy may just like looking closely at paper because he likes the colours!
