What's The Story?

This image conveys the idea that wheelchair users are not always sitting in them, that people can be more robust than they seem, can have adventures, and fun and take chances just like everyone else. It would be quite plausible to show the child supported in some way on the boat, sitting in a wedge or in a bean bag - a common sailing adaptation! The image also hints at a walking frame user being somewhere in the vicinity. Artistic license has removed the health and safety straps that might prevent the wheelchair and frame toppling as the boat sways!

Responses to this image include positive comments about how it encourages the use of imagination and how the illustration makes disability look artistic and visual to the eye.
