What's The Story?

This is an illustration from a work in progress by illustrator Sarah Wimperis called "Flora's Day". Flora has amblyopia - sometimes called "lazy eye" - and needs to wear an eye patch to help the "lazy eye" work harder. About 2% of all children have this eye condition which results in reduced vision to one or both eyes, the condition is often reversible with the correct treatment. Treatment involves complete visual deprivation of the stronger eye via an eye patch - these can either adhere directly to the skin or be worn over spectacle lenses as shown here.
