What's The Story?

This photograph shows two very different types of wheelchair for children.

The one in the background is the more traditional type of wheelchair - the handles on the back are high to enable an adult to push it. There is a cushion on the seat to ensure comfort for the child who uses it and to help them maintain a good position. A waist strap is there to keep the child safe.

The wheelchair in the foreground offers much more support for its user. The blocks at the top are to support the child's head, the safety harness comes down from the shoulders rather than just a waist strap, the footrests have fastenings to help the child keep their feet in position and the chair is slightly reclined to help keep the child in the chair.
