What's The Story? This photograph shows a close up view of a child wearing a helmet. She only wears it when she plays outside to protect her head should she fall over. A person may wear a helmet for a number of reasons; if they are prone to epileptic fits and therefore likely to fall it may be worn throughout the day however, it can just be worn when outside or moving around independently. Helmets are sometimes worn by young children due to the immaturity and shape of their skull and are worn 24 hours a day until the shape is corrected and the skull is stronger. Children with specific types of cerebral palsy (ataxic and athetoid) may also wear this type of protective head gear. Click here to see how an illustrator has drawn a child wearing a helmet. |
